As twilight falls, enter the quiet realm of reflection and light at the Guesthouse by the Reflection Pond. Watermarks of the Moon invites the audience into a lunar chamber where time slows to a trickle. Here, you are invited to pause upon the traces of a once flowing river but now turned into a bare riverbed edged by moonlight. Yet the soft moonbeam filled lunar chamber beckons phantom water to flow once again, as you attune your senses to the shimmering state of serenity.

From the show’s opening of a lantern-procession along the boardwalk at the Reflection Pond, to encounters of intriguing characters performing exquisite moves far and near inside the lunar chamber, with highlight capped by a shadow dance happening just outside the Guesthouse’s glass doors. Audience are treated to the performance’s zen-like aesthetics beaming with simplicity and quiet contemplation.

This intergenerational performance is also part of Lights by the Lake 2026 — a signature annual event at Jurong Lake Gardens celebrating lights, music, and cultural delights. The performance features the ARTS FISSION professional dancers, together with an intergenerational cast of senior performers from Tzu Chi Seniors Engagement & Enabling Node (Nanyang), and dance students from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, University of Arts Singapore.

The 30-minute site-specific presentation of Watermarks of the Moon is intentionally tucked away at the quieter site of the Japanese Garden. Designed as a wellness performance inside the grand timber-built Guesthouse, the performance offers audience the rare unhurried and calm space to step away from the city’s daily chaos.
